Midnight Cowboy (USA 1969)
Great directors
Jim Jarmusch
As writer/director of such classic movies as Stranger Than Paradise,
Down By Law and Mystery Train, Jarmusch has invented the
"cool talking dudes" movie genre.
Jarmusch himself appeared in a few movies, such as Leningrad Cowboys Go America. His role in Blue In The Face was definitively the highlight
of that rather disappointing movie.
Akira Kurosawa
No, this laughing man is not the Japanese minister for foreign affairs. Of course it's
Asia's most famous director: Akira Kurosawa. He directed many highly acclaimed movies, which had a significant influence on such contemporary directors as Steven Spielberg and
George Lucas.
Rashomon, The Seven Samurai, Kagemusha
and Ran (his great adaption of Shakespeare's King Lear) are
some of his all-time classics.
